DTP assignment reflection

Blog post - 5 sentences on each questions - What was your favorite DTP assignment (flyer, can label, menu, magazine cover, event ticket) and why?  What was your least favorite DTP assignment and why?

My favorite DTP assignment was the event ticket. It was my favorite because I could do it on any event I wanted to, so I did it on my favorite college basketball team, Duke. Also it was fun because it was a realistic ticket that you actually might get at a game. This is why the ticket was my favorite assignment.

My least favorite DTP assignment was the menu for a few reasons. One we were suppose to be creative but the only creative part was we changed the name of the food items. I was hoping we would make our own menu with the food we wanted to make it more creative but that was not the case. Also it I thought more time was required to make it quality work. Overall I did not enjoy the menu project because we were limited on the creativity part.

DTP Elements

Blog Post - Name 5 desktop principles, elements or vocabulary terms that you have used in creating the can label and/or the special event ticket and EXPLAIN how you used them.

  1. On the can label I used shadow effects on the logo.
  2. On the special ticket event I used rotated items on the Duke and UNC logos, which made them look like they were tilted towards each other, which they will be versing soon.
  3. On the can label I used a watermark, it was a bubble gum, which was my product in the can.
  4. On the can label I used a border, so I could see where the border was when cutting it out and to make sure everything fit inside the label.
  5. I used text boxes on the special ticket event so I could place information about the event on the ticket.

Family rules

Most families set rules for their children, especially regarding behavior and responsibility.  Do you long to stay out later, go out more, or dress any way you like?  Which rules do you find particularly annoying? Write about rules that you consider unfair and why?  Which rules do you find that are fair and why?

I do wish I got to go out more, I find it annoying that my dad doesn't trust many teenages to drive me places. So I don't end up going many places because I don't have a ride. But my parents don't have that many rules, I just know what they want/expect. But I do understand that he is thinking of my safety and doesn't want me to get hurt.

Super Bowl Commercials

Blog Entry - Which super bowl was your favorite and why?  Which was your least favorite and why?

My favorite super bowl commercial was the Doritos Time Machine. It was my favorite one because it was extremely funny and I can't stop laughing every time I watch it. Also It is amusing how a little kid can take advantage of a full grown man and convince him that he made a time machine out of a cardboard box. Further more he convinces him that it runs on Doritos, what would the Doritos do anyways? Then the guy thinks its working and thinks the old man is Jimmy. All that happened was Jimmy(the boy) was banging on the box and making weird noises. This is why the Doritos time machine commercial was my favorite.

My least favorite super bowl commercial was the Audi’s “Doberhuaha” Super Bowl Ad. It was funny but just really weird. It had a good message saying not to compromise for less but it was obnoxious. They went way over the top even for Super Bowl commercial standards. This is why Audi's Doberhuaha ad was my least favorite.

Technology Blog

Technology has led to the discovery of vaccines and medical treatments.  It has brought computers and televisions into people’s homes, and it has provided us with electricity, the internet, phones, cars, planes and much more.  But an argument can be made that technology has largely worsened the quality of our lives, polluting the air, making our lives needlessly stressful, and dampening our enthusiasm for books.

If you had to give up one technological advantage that you use all the time, what would it be? Do you think you would be better off without it? Why?

I would give up my iPhone. There are advantages and disadvantages to give up my iPhone. Some advantages would be I would have more time to do more important things that actually matter. Though a disadvantage would be all of the great features a smart phone can provide. Such as tools to help with school work, the weather, games, social media. Though I would overall be better without my iPhone because I can access most of the beneficiary tools through other means.
